The history of China is more elaborate and glorious than any other
nations of the world. The journey of history of China begins with
‘Peking Man’ who existed one million years ago. The Neolithic Age
in China was present in the 10,000 B.C. and after the end of the
Neolithic Age the first dynasty which came into being is the Xia
Dynasty. After the fall of the Xia Dynasty the other dynasty,
which came into being is the Shang Dynasty. This dynasty continued
about 554 years and about thirty one kings ruled during this
period. The longest rule is of the Zhou dynasty who ruled for
almost eight hundred years. The Zhou Dynasty over powered the
kings of Shang dynasty and began its journey as the semi-feudal
rule. After the Zhou dynasty came the ‘Spring and Autumn Period’.
It is when the military leaders of the Zhou dynasty began to get
their individual powers. It was during this period that the
Chinese philosophy ‘Hundred Schools of Thought’ came into being.
The imperial era of Chinese history began with the Qin dynasty. It
was during the Qin dynasty that the emperors got ultimate power.
This period is famous as it is the time of the inception of the
Great Wall of China. According to the historians, the extension of
the Great Wall began during the time of the Ming Dynasty. The next
dynasty to rule china after Qins is the Han dynasty, which is
famous as during this time Confucianism made its way into Chinese
culture. The famous silk route or the trading route of the west
and the east also began in this period. After the fall of the Han
dynasty, the Jin dynasty sat on the throne for about two
centuries. After their downfall, China was divided into two parts
northern and southern dynasties.
The Sui Dynasty reunited the China, which was divided into two
halves the northern and the southern part. The Tang Dynasty came
to rule China in the 7th century AD and continued it until 907 AD.
It was during the rule of the Tang dynasty that there was
significant development in the field of arts and technology. It
was not only culturally significant but there was considerable
economic development during this period.
The Ming Dynasty, which came to rule after Yaun Dynasty, was the
most important historical period of China. It was during this
period that the small scale industries started in China. Nanjing
and Beijing are the two cities, which grew during the Ming
Dynasty. The Great Wall of China was also made during this Ming
Rule. After Ming Dynasty came the Qing dynasty, after which the
modern Chinese era started.
In the beginning of the 20th century, the Republic of China began
its journey holding the hands of Sun Yat-Sen. Slavery was declared
illegal in 1910 and the Wuchang Uprising took place. In the 1920s,
communism entered China from Russia, and under the leadership of
Mao Zedong it took a better shape.
