Chinese History

The history of China is more elaborate and glorious than any other nations of the world. The journey of history of China begins with ‘Peking Man’ who existed one million years ago. The Neolithic Age in China was present in the 10,000 B.C. and after the end of the Neolithic Age the first dynasty which came into being is the Xia Dynasty. After the fall of the Xia Dynasty the other dynasty, which came into being is the Shang Dynasty. This dynasty continued about 554 years and about thirty one kings ruled during this period. The longest rule is of the Zhou dynasty who ruled for almost eight hundred years. The Zhou Dynasty over powered the kings of Shang dynasty and began its journey as the semi-feudal rule. After the Zhou dynasty came the ‘Spring and Autumn Period’. It is when the military leaders of the Zhou dynasty began to get their individual powers. It was during this period that the Chinese philosophy ‘Hundred Schools of Thought’ came into being.

The imperial era of Chinese history began with the Qin dynasty. It was during the Qin dynasty that the emperors got ultimate power. This period is famous as it is the time of the inception of the Great Wall of China. According to the historians, the extension of the Great Wall began during the time of the Ming Dynasty. The next dynasty to rule china after Qins is the Han dynasty, which is famous as during this time Confucianism made its way into Chinese culture. The famous silk route or the trading route of the west and the east also began in this period. After the fall of the Han dynasty, the Jin dynasty sat on the throne for about two centuries. After their downfall, China was divided into two parts northern and southern dynasties.

The Sui Dynasty reunited the China, which was divided into two halves the northern and the southern part. The Tang Dynasty came to rule China in the 7th century AD and continued it until 907 AD. It was during the rule of the Tang dynasty that there was significant development in the field of arts and technology. It was not only culturally significant but there was considerable economic development during this period.

The Ming Dynasty, which came to rule after Yaun Dynasty, was the most important historical period of China. It was during this period that the small scale industries started in China. Nanjing and Beijing are the two cities, which grew during the Ming Dynasty. The Great Wall of China was also made during this Ming Rule. After Ming Dynasty came the Qing dynasty, after which the modern Chinese era started.

In the beginning of the 20th century, the Republic of China began its journey holding the hands of Sun Yat-Sen. Slavery was declared illegal in 1910 and the Wuchang Uprising took place. In the 1920s, communism entered China from Russia, and under the leadership of Mao Zedong it took a better shape.
