Culture in China

The due course of cultural evolvement of China has been determined by its long and rich history. The rules by various dynasties, different religious influence and immigration from the foreign countries have given the culture of China various flavors. It would be wrong to say the culture of China is a homogenous factor as different regions and different cultural traits. The dialects are different in the different areas of China and so are its traditions. Chinese culture and traditions are also influenced by religion significantly. Taoism and Confucianism are the two most dominant religions of China, which are also responsible for the values, rites and rituals commonly practiced here.

Mythology and spirituality are two very important factors of Chinese culture. The existence of spirits dominates all the social rites and rituals. From generation after generation these traditions have trickled down in the Chinese society and it still exists in the 21st century. Fortune telling, exorcism, folklores and many more are intricate constituents of Chinese life.

Chinese literature is an integral part of the culture of this country. The books of the ancient era are the living proof of the advancement of literature in China. Science was also quite advanced during this period and the Chinese had mastered astrology, astronomy and constellations in the ancient era. Some of the most important books of China are ‘Four Great Classical Novels’, books on I Ching ans Shujing, Hu Shih and Lu Xun.

The music of China is another most important characteristic of Chinese culture. Since the times of Confucius the traditions of writing music entered the Chinese society. In the Tang and the Han Dynasty the major evolvement of Chinese music took place.

Martial arts are another term which is almost synonymous to Chinese culture. Kung Fu is a very popular form of martial art and it is from this form of marital art that all the other forms have evolves in various regions.

Art in China is varied and the various branches of art forms in China are fine art, folk art and performance art. The art forms in this country began developing since the Paleolithic period and the best of Chinese art can be seen during the Ming dynasty. One of the main forms of Chinese art is the Chinese opera which is globally popular.

Food of China is another factor, which is important part of Chinese culture. It is almost like art and different region in China has something different to offer. The difference of culture and the blend of different cultures are best depicted in their cuisine.

The culture of China is very fascinating and it also attracts a huge amount o tourist to this country. The interesting oriental never ceases to fascinate the tourists to this country.
