Beijing is one of the few cities in the world which is very
hard to capture at once. Beijing is vibrant with amazing
attractions, Forbidden City, the most magnificent palace in China;
Ming Tombs, an imperial tomb cluster for thirteen emperors of the
Ming Dynasty (1368-1644); Great Wall, one of the seven wonders of
the world; Temple of Heaven, the worshipping site for the
emperors; Summer Palace, the grandest imperial garden in China;
Sacred Way, a divine road reflecting the pomp and dignity of
emperors; Tiananmen Square, The largest square in the world; Lama
Temple, a noted temple dedicated to Tibetan Buddhism; Beihai Park,
a centuries-old park with marvelous scenery; Hutong, a carrier and
mirror of Beijing folk culture.
The
Great Wall symbolizes China’s history and heritage, without
visiting which the trip to China is incomplete. The ancient
Chinese people have toiled hard to construct this engineering feat
which has contributed to making Beijing, undoubtedly the best
place.
The
Forbidden City stands in the center of Beijing, also called
"Purple Gold Palace". It is the best-kept and largest imperial
dwelling in China. The emperors of two dynasties, the Ming and the
Qing, lived here with their families and hundreds of court ladies
and palace eunuchs.

The architecture and landscape design of Temple of Heaven,
is a masterpiece which simply and graphically illustrates a
cosmogony of great importance for the evolution of one of the
world's great civilizations.

In the northwest of Beijing, lies The Summer Palace
consisting of Longevity Hill, Kunming Lake and complex buildings
and is a famous summer resort for Qing emperors after Emperor
Qianlong.
50 km northwest of Beijing, at Chan Ping County are located the
Ming Tombs. Of the 16 emperors who ruled China during the Ming
Dynasty, 13 are buried in elaborate complexes in the valley of the
Ming Tombs north of Beijing.
Tibetan Buddhist temple, Yonghe Lamasery, situated in the
heart of Beijing, was the residence of Prince Yong of the Qing
dynasty which is now not only a functional lama temple, but also a
tourist attraction.
Beihai Park is Beijing’s oldest Imperial garden, having
city’s largest lake and landmark white pagoda, with a history that
dates back to 800 years. This is surely Beijing’s best single park
and a remarkably beautiful place to stroll around.
Old Summer Palace, in the suburbs of Beijing, located beside the
Summer Palace, now draws attraction as a theme park containing
ruins of the former imperial garden in the Quing Dynasty.
Hutong (small lanes or roads) was created with its unique
street design to Beijing and portrays the imperial ruling of
emperors from the Forbidden City. This piece of architecture
serves as a window into the life of Beijing folk and proves to be
the "encyclopedia of the history and culture of Beijing."
Prince Gong's Mansion consisting of 31 pavilions, halls,
and residential buildings, 9 courtyards, several arched bridges,
large ponds with islands and swans, an immense rock garden, is the
best-preserved example of how the upper class lived during the
Qing Dynasty.
Museums
Apart from the above mentioned places of attraction, one can catch
a glimpse of of the origin of the Chinese people, the history of
China and Chinese culture, including architecture, printing,
painting and other aspects in the Museums in Beijing.
Mountains and Forest Parks
Furthermore, one traveling in the west and south of Beijing will
come across the exquisite beauty and serene charm of the mountains
in a bountiful and gracious manner. Luxuriant trees, tall or
short, form many natural forest parks and scenic areas with pure
water and fresh air. Really great places to retreat from the
hustle and bustle of the city and clear one's mind!
Valleys and Gullies, Caves
Due to its mountainous landform, Beijing is riddled with numerous
valleys, gullies and gorges in its western area. The brooks
trickle through the glens, majestic waterfalls rush down from
atop, and bird songs occasionally break the silence of the woods.
Caves seem to be playing 'hide-and-seek' while the wonders of
nature unfold inside.
