Special China Project - TESOL Course and ESL Job in Beijing / Shenzhen, China

Visa Rules in China

There are mainly three types of visas for TESOL teachers who want to do an ESL job in China.

1. Tourist Visa also known as ‘L’ Visa
2. Business Visa also known as F Visa
3. Employment Visa also known as ‘Z’ Visa

The tourist visa is mainly taken by the tourists who come to visit the country. But the teachers or TESOL candidates can also take a tourist visa to come to China and then convert it into work visa. The visa cost for L visa is 30 to 130 USD and it takes about four days.

Business visa can also be taken by the TESOL teachers while landing in China. The F Visa is changed into a work visa after working in a school with a business visa. It is also possible to extend the F visa and work if the school permits. The cost of this visa is from $30 to $130 and it takes four days to issue a visa.

The employment visa or a work visa is not mandatory for ESL teachers to have but many schools prefer teacher having Z visa. The applicants have to go to the visa office in the Embassy or consulates, do all the formalities and submit the application in person.
